All party meeting by police in subdivisions gets response from political parties
In order to maintain the law and order situation and peace during campaigning of ensuing assembly elections by political parties, the state police through noble initiative are organizing all-party meetings with representatives of political parties in subdivisional level.
Sources said that with days coming to 2023 assembly elections in Tripura, which is probably held in mid part of February next, the political tension and violence among the rival party supporters are also increasing in the past few days, which increases the movements of security forces across the state.
Considering the prevailing situation, the state police have taken this initiative to increase confidence measures and cooperation from all political parties.
Earlier, the Sadar subdivisional police led by the SDPO (Sadar) Ajoy Kumar Das had held series of meetings with representatives of all political parties and had also detailed discussion with leaders over the rule of police administration to maintain the peace during the campaign.
In its latest edition, SDPO of Teliamura Prasun Kanti Tripura on Sunday organized the same meeting at Kalyanpur police station with leaders of different political parties in presence of OC of Kalyanpur police station Tapash Malakar.
During the meeting leaders from ruling BJP, opposition CPI (M) and leaders of Congress, Trinamool Congress (TMC), Amra Bangale and TSP, but representatives of Tipra-Motha skipped the meeting without any reason.
While speaking with media persons, SDPO(Teliamura) Prasun Kanti Tripura said that the police administration in order to maintain the long tradition of Tripura, where elections are often conducted in festival spirit, has taken co-operative measures to make the greatest exercise of democracy a violence free.
He said that during the meeting police authorities have informed the leaders about rules and regulations for conducting political rallies and meetings etc. They urged the leaders to take proper permission from the respective area police authorities before organizing any kind of political procession, rally and meeting by mentioning venues, route etc in advance.
Prasun Tripura also urged the leaders to avoid their political programme on the days of rural ‘haat’ to decrease the suffering of common people.
Meanwhile, during meeting leaders of opposition political parties have also requested police authorities to maintain the constitutional duties and impartial rule for giving permission for political rallies and to maintain the law and order situation. Leaders speaking with media persons said that they only want police to maintain their impartial rule and in exchange they will always get the cooperation from opposition parties to maintain peace in their localities.
